McKenzie Shimko

M.C., Registered Provisional Psychologist

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. I aim to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where we can explore your experiences, thoughts, and feelings at a pace that suits you. Grounded in curiosity and collaboration, my therapeutic approach is guided by evidence-based theories to support your journey toward healing and growth. My role as a therapist is to support you in uncovering your strengths and navigating the complexities of your experiences. I approach each session with empathy and openness, fostering a space where you can feel seen and heard.

My integrative approach combines various therapeutic techniques to create a personalized experience for each client. By blending techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Solution-Focused Therapy, I aim to address your unique needs and preferences. This flexibility allows us to work collaboratively, focusing on what resonates most with you and empowers you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery. I work with individual adults and adolescents (16+) on a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, academic and workplace stress, life transitions, grief and loss, and emotional dysregulation.

The first step in starting your therapeutic journey can often be the most challenging, and I commend your courage in taking it. I am honoured to walk alongside you on this journey toward mental wellness, meaningful change, and healing.

McKenzie is currently offering in-person and online appointments.

Please note that online therapy is only available for individuals living within the province of Alberta.
