Circle of Security Parenting Group

Next group starting Monday, February 3rd, 2025. Registration is open until January 27th, 2025.

What is the Circle of Security Parenting Group?

At times, all parents can feel confused or lost about what their child wants from them. Children don’t come with manuals, but the Circle of Security can help you make sense of what your child is asking from you. Based on decades of research on parenting, the Circle of Security Parenting program enhances the relationship between you and your child by giving you the tools to understand and respond to your child’s needs to help them feel secure and supported.

The Circle of Security Parenting Program aims to:

  • Help you understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs

  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions

  • Enhance the development of your child’s self-esteem

  • Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

What is the group format?

The Circle of Security Parenting Group is a closed group consisting of 8-10 participants. It runs for 10 weeks, each session 1.5 hours in length, and is co-facilitated by Monika Sawka (Registered Psychologist, Canadian Certified Counsellor) and Angela Psalios (Registered Provisional Psychologist), who are both Registered COSP Facilitators.

These reflective group sessions are designed to help you gain the tools to build a more secure relationship between you and your child, gain greater confidence as a parent, and learn new ways to support your child’s emotional and social development, while enhancing their bond with you. This program will introduce new concepts and terms each week, supported with videos, handouts, and discussions.

What does the group cost?

The total cost for the Circle of Security Parenting Group is $1435, which includes the ten 1.5 hour sessions and all other group materials.

The fee for this group may be covered in whole or part by your private health insurance/employee benefits plan. Please note that obtaining reimbursement from an insurance company is the responsibility of each client. You are encouraged to contact your insurance provider directly for details of your coverage, to verify that group therapy services will be covered by your policy, and any conditions of this coverage.

This is a closed group that will not accept new registrants after the start date. We require a $135 dollar deposit to hold your spot in the group and this is refundable, minus $50 for administrative fees, up to 1 week before the start of the group. The remaining fees may be paid in full at the start of the group or in weekly installments of $130 per 1.5 hour session.

What if I need to miss a group?

Because so much information is covered in each group session, regular and consistent attendance is strongly recommended. You may still participate in the Emotion Regulation Skills Group even if you know you will be absent for one or more sessions. Please note that the full fee for the group will still apply in such cases.
