Lauren Tan
M.C., Registered Provisional Psychologist
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master’s of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle. I also hold an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta. In my previous work as a Registered Nurse in women’s health, I walked with families from diverse backgrounds as they navigated hardship and unexpected losses. I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced grief, medical trauma, chronic pain, or challenges with reproductive and perinatal mental health. I am also passionate about issues of social justice, the accessibility of mental health resources, and I am committed to fostering inclusivity in my practice.
I have experience working with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, and challenges related to self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and life transitions. My practice is collaborative and flexible in order to meet your unique needs and goals. Generally, I integrate the modalities of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and somatic approaches. I also have training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I believe counselling provides a golden opportunity to explore many facets of life. In a safe and supportive environment, we might experience a change in perspective, learn new skills, or harness an inner strength that empowers us to make effective, values-driven change. Primarily, I hope to provide a nonjudgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and respected.
I welcome the opportunity to work together.
