Alexander Choy
M.Sc., Registered Provisional Psychologist
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. My practice experience includes working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, and career exploration. I also have particular interests in the areas of challenges with cultural gaps and conflicts, navigating a bicultural identity, and men’s mental health.
My approach to counselling draws from my training and experience with modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and somatic body-mind therapies. I believe that all individuals are capable of healing, overcoming challenges, and achieving their therapeutic goals. I see therapy as a nonjudgmental space for collaborative self-exploration, solution-finding, processing emotions, learning new skills, and personal growth.
Whatever concern you bring, it is important to me to get to know you as a person and learn about what has brought you to therapy. In our first session(s), you can expect to have an opportunity to share about your concerns, collaboratively identify what you would like to be different for you by coming to therapy, and decide on how you might like to get there together.
Overall, it is my hope to know and honor your life story and whatever you have to bring to therapy with care, empathy, and authenticity.
Alexander is currently offering in-person and online appointments.
Please note that online therapy is only available for individuals living within the province of Alberta.
