What are the benefits of telephone or online therapy?
Online video therapy is a healthcare service that can be done effectively without being in the same room. It is known that 80% of our communication is delivered through social cues such as facial expressions and body language. Video chat sessions allow the therapist and the client to see one another and communicate in real time. Telephone sessions don’t offer this dynamic but should not be discounted. Having a 50-minute conversation with a trained and licensed clinician can be extremely helpful in moving clients towards their goal of improved mental health.
Who is eligible?
Online therapy is available to residents of Alberta.
Online therapy provides opportunities to access professional support in the comfort and safety of your own home, no matter where you live in Alberta. Our team of registered psychologists are licensed to practice throughout the province.
In addition to providing access to Albertans in larger centres, online therapy is available to Albertans living in smaller communities where access to professional psychological services have previously been scarce.

How does online therapy work?
Online platforms are incredibly simple to use and the set-up work is done by our team. Prior to your session, you will receive an email from your therapist containing a link which will take you to your therapist’s virtual waiting room. When your session is about to begin, your therapist will enable the video connection. At this point you will be able to see and hear your therapist and they will be able to see and hear you.
For scheduling or rescheduling sessions, as well as for session payments, we anticipate minimal interruptions. We provide direct billing to insurance companies, can accept credit card or e-transfers, and your receipts will be sent electronically.
We’re available to answer any questions that you may have, book sessions, and take payments.
What do I need?
All you need is a home computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone, as well as a stable internet connection and a private space where you can speak openly with your therapist.
Can my privacy be guaranteed?
Yes! The online platform being used by your therapist is secure and complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) as set forth by federal law in Canada. This allows for private conversations to occur online in a secure and confidential way.
What about phone sessions?
Your therapist will be more than happy to connect with you over the phone if you would prefer. Our administration team will provide your therapist with your phone number. Your therapist will then call at your appointed time to begin the session.
